School bus crashes at Denver airport; several are injured
A driver was killed and five people have been transported to the hospital after a school bus crashed into a concrete wall at Denver International Airport.
Three school buses were leaving the airport, police said. Other students were injured, some critically.
Ramsey said players told him a coach was in the front seat and has serious injuries.
“The team is really pulling for them”, Ferdani said. Her speed at the time of the crash has not been released. The Denver Post reports that the football team from Legacy played Chino High School on Friday night in California.
Because of the investigation into the crash, police were asking that all airport passengers be picked up and dropped off on the west side of the DIA terminal.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the legacy football team, coaches, and families❤️ #legacystrong”, the Legacy High School student government posted on their Facebook page.
“The bus driver circled back around to this level”.
White said the female bus driver “accidentally drove their bus into a support of one of the bridges”.
“We’re like a family”, she said through tears.
Sources tell 9Wants To Know that some witnesses said they didn’t notice any swerving or “issues” prior to the crash.
The Medical Center of Aurora told Denver7 they took in two walk-ins from the crash.
Five more patients were taken to University of Colorado Hospital, but Denver7 was not immediately able to confirm the patients’ conditions.
