School bus driver resigns after child’s arm caught in door
They have also sent out separate notes to mothers and fathers of students who regularly ride the bus as well as everyone at Union Cross Elementary School.
Troopers said Chelsea Klepzig, 6, got off the bus and the driver closed the door on her arm. “It scared me. I didn’t know how to react to it. Just to realize what had happened to her, it just tore me up”. “I got up there, I was shaking”, Abbassi said.
However, the transportation director is recommending his dismissal.
The bus driver was a substitute employed by the school system since 2000, Helm said.
Chelsea Klepzig, a first-grader at Union Cross Elementary School, was dragged down Pine Meadow Drive by a school bus, according to her family.
“That’s the only way that she was able to hold on and go along with the bus”.
Falon said her daughter tried to run to keep up with the bus after her arm got stuck, but wasn’t fast enough.
Horrified Estrella Klepzig chased after the bus in her auto as Chelsea desperately clung on to the side with her feet and legs dragging on the ground. She said “I kept flashing him to stop, stop because I didn’t see her feet anymore”. “She’s a tough little girl”. “I’m just thankful someone was watching over her yesterday”.
A child suffered minor injuries after she was dragged by a school bus for almost a mile on Monday, as her grandmother watched. All drivers receive training each August, he noted.
I pick my second-grader up from the bus stop every day, and I never think the despicable incident that took place in Forsyth County, N.C., could happen to her. But this upsetting story serves as a sobering reminder of how important bus safety is. It was reported that 17 other children were inside of the school bus when the girl was dragged for nearly a mile, and no one noticed.
The bus driver, who has not been named, had worked for the school system for 15 years before the incident. Your bus will have a new driver, and our transportation director has reminded all drivers of the proper way to let students off the bus.
