Schumer warns families about scary ingredients in Halloween makeup
Putting makeup is a popular choice for completing the entire Halloween getup, but now parents are warned to take extra caution in buying cosmetic products for kids.
“Every Halloween we worry about the candy we’re putting in our kids’ mouth, but nowadays, we need to worry about the face paint we’re putting on our kids’ faces”, Schumer said on Sunday.
“In testing… 100% of the Chinese imports had one of the bad substances in it. So the best thing consumers can do is avoid anything made in China”, Schumer said.
Lead is not now banned from makeup sold in the United States.

The Food and Drug Administration does not conduct routine checks of cosmetic products or face paints that can contain heavy metals like lead, nickel, cobalt and chromium. Long-term exposure may also result in nervous system complications.
Advocacy group Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has released a report saying that lead was found in 10 of the face paint products tested and six contained nickel, cobalt and/or chromium.

Schumer explained that this lack of regulation means that many parents are exposing their young children, and even themselves, to harmful metals.
