Scooter, briefly the world’s oldest living cat, dead at 30
Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister and mobile phones were the size of a house when stately Siamese kitten Scooter began life.
When Mansfield’s mayor learned about its oldest feline resident, he wanted to honor Scooter.
He lived in Mansfield, Texas, with owner Gail Floyd. In human years, Scooter would have been about 136 years old, Latimer said. Bear in mind, the average domesticated cat has a life expectancy of 12 years – 15 years tops.
“Scooter is quite an awesome cat, with a strong will to live”, said the cat’s veterinarian.
Floyd, however, was not the oldest cat of all time.
He likes to see new places and he likes people.
Life was not always kind to Scooter. Scooter lives pretty well, actually – Floyd gives him chicken to dine on every other day, because when you make that far into your golden years, you deserve pretty much anything you want.
Floyd had raised the 5-pound Siamese since he was born, owning his parents, Dixie and Justin, too, she said.
Scooter the Cat, who was named the world’s oldest living cat by the Guinness Book of World Records, has died at the age of 30. A fellow Texas native named Creme Puff was 38 years old before passing away in 2005.
