Scott Walker To Speak At Republican National Convention
Walker said that he felt delegates to the RNC should be free to vote their conscience. “We want to defeat Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump just isn’t going to do it. Scott Walker will”.
Maine Gov. Paul LePage said Tuesday that he will not head to Cleveland.
The move still represents a turnaround from the governor who, according to the Washington Post, saw his own presidential ambitions thwarted by Trump’s entry into the race for the GOP nomination.
Walker said he told Trump to focus on Hillary and Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, believing they represent Washington as usual and the that’s what the majority Americans are exhausted of getting.
Not all Republicans have warmed to the idea of a Donald Trump candidacy.
Now that it appears Governor Walker will work with the GOP to get their presumptive nominee elected President, will Walker help Trump turn Wisconsin red come November? I think there is a clear contrast.
And though his refusal name Trump directly raised eyebrows – and spawned numerous references to “Harry Potter” on social media – Walker isn’t the first Republican to avoid Trump’s name.
Walker’s announcement comes as other prominent Republicans, including three of the last four Republican presidential nominees, say they won’t be attending the convention.
“That would be fine actually”.
“I suspect that expectations will be different this year, to the point where it may be more noteworthy if Walker does spend a lot of time praising Trump as opposed to not”, said Kondik. “I think they overlooked the day before when I was in Platteville I said his name and I said Hillary Clinton’s name”. I know that he can win.
Other notable “Never Trump” voices such as conservative blogger Erik Erickson and radio host Steve Deace were not present on the call.
