Scott Weiland’s Official Cause of Death: Cocaine, Alcohol and Ecstasy Overdose
The toxicology test results indicate that his death was caused by a mixture of alcohol, cocaine and MDA, a drug similar to MDMA or ecstasy.
Weiland, who lived in Los Angeles, was found dead on his tour bus in the city of Bloomington in Minnesota on the evening of December 3.
Renowned as the founding frontman of the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Weiland was on the road with his latest band the Wildabouts. Substances aside, that testing also showed that heart disease and asthma were “significant” conditions. The report states that Weiland’s death was at 8:27 pm and that the death was accidental. The death was deemed accidental.
After the band split up in 2003, Weiland went on to front supergroup Velvet Revolver alongside Slash, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Dave Kushner of Wasted Youth.
Weiland’s extraordinary career often was overshadowed by a constant battle with drug addiction. The outpouring of condolences and prayers offered to our children, Noah and Lucy, has been overwhelming, appreciated and even comforting. “What they truly lost on December 3rd was hope”.
Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic wrote: “Really sorry to hear about Scott Weiland”.
