SDCC: “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” Scares Up Halloween Premiere

The 3-minute trailer shows an obviously aged Ash (Bruce Campbell) strapping himself into a corset and popping in his dentures, but he’s still the Ash fans of the movie series know and love. A promise that it most certainly delivered on. But the Deadites are coming back, and it’s all Ash’s fault!

The sequel to the Evil Dead film franchise picks up with S-Mart stock boy Ash (Campbell), whose chainsaw for a hand and devil-may-care attitude is the result of fighting off the Evil Dead 30 years ago.

Joining Campbell for the continuation are Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) as Ruby; Ray Santiago (Bad Judge) as Ash’s sidekick Pablo; Dana Delorenzo (Barely Famous) as wild child Kelly; and Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as state trooper Amanda. However, once word of a Deadite plague finds him, he’s forced to face the past he’s spent decades hiding from. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Raimi is directing the first episode of “Ash vs Evil Dead” that he wrote with Ivan Raimi (Darkman, Army of Darkness, Drag Me to Hell), and Tom Spezialy (“Chuck”, “Reaper”, “Desperate Housewives”). Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce and Aaron Lam (“Spartacus“) will serve as producer.
