Seahawks’ Jimmy Graham insists he’s not frustrated
Graham acknowledged he is frustrated – for one reason only.
“I’m a tight end now, shoot”, he said.
“It was a surprise to me”.
“I like to win and I hate to lose, so frustration comes because we’re 0-2 and we’re a lot better than that”, Graham said, according to CBS Sports.
In defense of Graham, Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell told Seattle Times that the 28-year-old is frustrated about Seattle’s 0-2 start and not his role and his touches. Good reporters are able to provide insight and context where we otherwise would have none, much like Silver’s column this week.
Graham responded to reports that he’s frustrated with his role after having just one catch for 11 yards in the Seahawks’ 27-17 loss at Green Bay on Sunday night.
The tight end said regardless of what it looks like, he’s just trying to be patient and wait for his chances to unfold.
“I’m doing what is asked of me, ” he said. If he’s in trouble, he was going to read me, and I was the option. “Sometimes a guy, maybe some guys, are there and sometimes I’m going to make it happen”. I know I’ll be ready when they do come my way….
“This team runs the ball”, he said on Friday. “In the second game, it was one of those things that we had things called, that [were] looking for him. It sounds like some of the people are anxious about it but we’re working at it. It’s going to get worked out and we just want him to be a factor and contribute just like he wants to desperately”.
Wilson said his relationship with Graham is just fine. Graham’s 6-foot-7 frame gives Russell Wilson a big target that he hasn’t had in the last three seasons in Seattle.
“What keeps me up Sunday night, Monday night, isn’t if I got a pass. It’s if we won or not”.
Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham catches a 7-yard touchdown pass during the fourth quarter of an NFL football game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, September 13, 2015, in St. Louis.
Graham was expected to help the Seahawks be more explosive in the passing game. “We know that he’ll do great things for us”.
Instead, Graham insists that any frustration he may feel stems from the 0-2 record in the Seahawks’ win-loss column, not the seven catches on 10 targets for 62 yards on his stat sheet. The Seahawks have only played two games, and Graham was productive in one of them. The team needs to make that move onto the active roster by 1:25 p.m. Saturday, 24 hours before kickoff.
Chancellor didn’t end his 54-day holdout on Wednesday to sit out a third consecutive game. He’ll start at strong safety against Chicago.
Carroll said “it’s not unrealistic” to think Chancellor could play four quarters against Chicago.
The Seahawks listed Lynch as questionable to play Sunday because of a calf issue, and Carroll said his availability will be a game-time decision.
During the Carroll/John Schneider regime, nearly every time a player has been listed as questionable he has played in that game.
