Seahawks RB Lynch listed as probable
Lynch practiced with the team the week before their 10-9 wild-card win over the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, but declared himself unfit to play in the game.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. has been added to the team’s injury report as questionable for Sunday’s NFC divisional playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks after being held out of practice.
Because of that last-minute decision – which came after Pete Carroll had told KIRO radio that he’d be playing – the Seahawks have been predictably much more conservative in their estimates this week, repeatedly saying they’ll just go “day-to-day” with Lynch and see how it goes at game-time.
Earlier in the week, offensive coordinator Darrel Bevell said Lynch “looks good”.
“We’ll see how he responds one more time (Saturday) and make sure that everything is okay”, said Carroll.
Newton was able to solve Seattle in a 27-23 win last October but the playoffs are a different challenge.
Lynch had 54 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers in Week 6.
Well, Seattle simply wasn’t in as many close games in the latter half of the season, in part because both its offense and defense began to play better.
The Panthers (15-1) and Cardinals (13-3) have each enjoyed franchise-best campaigns that have earned them the top seeds in the NFC, but their opponents command respect as annual contenders. Three of those scores came in one game in 2010. “We’ll figure that out as the game goes”. But it’s obvious Michael, re-signed in November after Lynch’s injury after Seattle had given up on its former second-round draft choice in September by trading him to Dallas, goes back to a secondary role behind Lynch Sunday.
The Seahawks also averaged 32 points per game over that seven-week stretch. “This team was built for this playoff run and I’m looking forward to seeing who we’re going to rise up and be”. Ginn said Friday he plans to “fight through” the injury and vows to be 100 percent for the game.
Carroll didn’t declare which running back would start but indicated that Christine Michael will get a considerable amount of the work, saying, “We’re expecting him to be in and out of there regularly”.
“Obviously, any time you have Marshawn it’s a great thing….” I don’t think nobody is going to be letting up on nothing. Only to watch Aaron Rodgers lead a drive for a tying field goal, which merely set up an even giddier moment in overtime when Wilson hit Jermaine Kearse, despite having cornerback Tramon Williams hanging all over him, for a 35-yard TD pass to put the Seahawks back in the Super Bowl.
