Seahawks S Thomas returns to practice
For the first time since he underwent surgery to fix a torn labrum in his shoulder, Earl Thomas returned to the practice field for 11-on-11 drills on Tuesday.
It was a light day of practice for Thomas, but it was still by far the most he’s done to this point in training camp. “So like I said, it just felt good to be back out here today”.
“It was very tough, because I was trying to be happy for them, but I was fighting demons in my head”, Thomas said. “It felt good”. It’s unclear whether he’ll be all the way back in time for Week One, although coach Pete Carroll said having Thomas on the field for the opener remains what the Seahawks are aiming for. He twice said on Tuesday he isn’t sure if he will be, though he expressed some confidence when asked whether there’s anything he needs to see in order to be convinced he’ll be ready. “Today was the ideal example for me. We’ll see”. With safety Kam Chancellor in the middle of a contract holdout, the Seahawks could be without both of their starting safeties next month.
He was activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on August. 5. His only participation in practice was in the walk-through portion, as he still wasn’t ready to run at full speed. Just happy that they have taken the handcuffs off of me and let me kind of do my job.
“As soon as I got around my teammates, as soon as I got back on the field”, Thomas said when asked when his love from the game came back.
Seattle Seahawks defensive back Earl Thomas has revealed that he was delighted to return for the first time since January after recovering from a shoulder injury.
“It’s been very tough”. “A lot of negative thoughts in my mind”.
