Seal sings alongside ‘Super Bowl Babies’ in new National Football League spot
When leagues advertise in their own championship game broadcast, they rarely do anything memorable. Watch live as Sports Illustrated senior editor Richard Deitsch joins hosts Katharine McPhee and Boomer Esiason, in addition to editors from Money, Entertainment Weekly, Fortune and People as they rank the top 50 Super Bowl commercials of all time, up to No. 3. The progeny of horny Giants fans in 2008 and the spawn of amorous Dallas Cowboys supporters in the mid-’90s are joined by other so-called “Super Bowl babies” to celebrate the big game.
Of the spot, National Football League chief marketing officer Dawn Hudson said: “For 49 years, our fans have rallied around their favorite teams on Super Bowl Sunday and passed their pride and passion down to the next generation”. “Since it was Super Bowl 50, we also charged our ad firm [Grey New York] to help us look back a little bit while having an optimistic look forward to the future”.
Butterfinger has splashed out on a Super Bowl ad. We’re not sure if this is the final ad or simply a teaser for something bigger, as many Easter eggs throughout the vid allude to, but we’re happy to see the nostalgic characters once again. “We think there will be some people who will say, “Wait, I was born in the October or November after my parents” team won”.
