The NFL themselves have come up with a whopper of their own for the clash between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers at Superbowl 50 this weekend in a spot called “Super Bowl Babies”.
Super Bowl 50 is being played in the San Francisco 49ers’ home at Levi’s Stadium, a $1.3 billion facility that – on paper – was built with just $114 million in public funding.
The league began monetizing the event back in 2011 when they announced that they would sell tickets to Super Bowl XLII media day in Indianapolis, allowing fans to watch the circus from the stands.
The NFL released the commercial on YouTube in an attempt to “recreate one of the greatest love songs of all time to celebrate the greatest game of all time”.
“The media frenzy is probably bigger than I expected but yet it’s the Super Bowl, the most impactful game in all of sports as you can see”, said Newton. For example, statistically, more babies are born in certain regions nine months after major events, such as snow storms, power outages and more.
