Search continues for missing 4-year-old in Sheffield Lake
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Coast Guard as well as several area police departments and K-9 units are involved in the search.
About 200 volunteers are helping local and federal agencies search for missing 4-year-old Sidney Heidrick, Sheffield Lake Police Chief Tony Campo said. He is approximately three and a half feet tall, has blonde hair and was last wearing a yellow/orange T-shirt, blue athletic shorts and was barefoot.
Making the search more hard is the fact that Sydney is autistic.
Volunteers are also playing the child’s song “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” as they search, as that is Sidney’s favorite song and he may respond to hearing it.
Area residents are asked to check their property for spaces a small child might be able to hide.
Sydney Heidrick, 4, apparently wandered away from his grandparents’ Lake Road home Friday in Sheffield Lake.
“Crews are using boats, jet skis and aircraft to look after the boy, who has autism”, Campo said. While the grandparents live in Sheffield Lake, Sidney and his family live in Bay Village, and the grandfather believes that Sidney was trying to walk home.
