Search Continues for Missing Ski Instructor at Sugar Bowl Ski Re
More than 43 people, in heavy rain and with avalanche conditions, searched Saturday.
Sugar Bowl’s ski patrol has also joined the search, which has been narrowed to the backside of the resort.
NORDEN, Calif. (AP) – Rescue crews are searching for a ski instructor who went missing after skiing at a Northern California ski resort.
The search resumed at 7 a.m. Saturday.
They say that 23-year-old Carson May was last seen skiing at the resort Thursday afternoon.
He was last seen wearing a blue Colombia jacket, bright green trousers and a blue helmet.
Officials say since the beginning of the ski season, they’ve conducted about 10 searches between all the resorts in the Placer County area. He wasn’t reported missing until Friday morning when his friends realized he didn’t show up at home.
The search for May coincides with an avalanche warning for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area issued by the National Weather Service Friday morning.
“It’s active and ongoing, and we’re certainly hoping for some good news”, said John Monson, spokesman for the Sugar Bowl resort, where May is an instructor for the Mountain Sports Learning Center.
