Search for California baby suspended; no signs of abduction
The father of a missing 6-month-old girl has been released from jail after settling a probation violation case unrelated to his daughter’s disappearance.
Matthew Graham has been released from police custody, according to the Redding Record Searchlight, and he is expected to be freed by the end of the day, but one question still remains on the minds of authorities and the community of Shasta County.
He became a person of interest in his daughter’s disappearance after giving inconsistent statements to investigators.
Authorities are also asking for anyone who may have seen Graham’s dark blue pickup truck parked or driving in the area Wednesday night to come forward.
Six days after Ember Sky Graham was reported missing by her father, Shasta County Sheriff’s officials announced Tuesday evening they were suspending their search for the 6-month-old.
Sheriff’s officials say Graham told them he took the baby to the store and then drove back home. Pat Kropholler said in a statement.
“When detectives pressed him to remember, he asked to speak with a lawyer before any further questioning”, Kropholler said.
Despite suspicions that Graham may have played a role in the disappearance of his infant daughter, Bateman said after court the probation violations had no bearing on that case and that it called for a standard resolution.
“Matthew showed very little remorse for the disappearance of his daughter”, Sgt.
The child has a seizure disorder and at one point was hospitalized because of her condition, her grandmother Deborah Tomlin said.
It’s also being noted that Graham was whisked away with his wife in tow, even though the two were reportedly separated at the time of the baby’s disappearance. Today, Graham’s truck was taken from the property.
Ember’s playpen was kept in 25-foot camp trailer on his gated property protected by guard dogs. He hasn’t been charged in the baby’s disappearance, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday. Graham had told investigators he only had gone up the road and made a U-turn.
A neighbor on the Noosha Lane property recalled seeing Matthew Graham on Wednesday after he returned from Happy Stop Market.
