Search For Flight MH370 Likely To Be Suspended
Malaysia, Australia and China have agreed to suspend the search for Flight 370 once the current area in the Indian Ocean has been completely scoured for the missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner. MH370 is the only missing Boeing 777 in the world.
About 20 percent of the designated search area, or about 3,800 square miles, remains unexplored. The Voice 370 statement was issued as as transport ministers from Australia, China and Malaysia prepared for a meeting Friday that may dictate how much longer the search continues.
An original mid-year search completion target has been pushed back to as late as December, Liow said at the media conference.
SENIOR ministers from Australia, Malaysia and China have announced the search for missing flight MH370 will be suspended.
The Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 pilot, according to a report Friday by the BBC, “had no money problems, no mental health problems, no marriage problems, no drug or alcohol problems, no history of odd behavior”. “I also want to reassure families and friends that we’re all on the same chain”.
The aircraft has yet to be found despite massive search operations in southern Indian Ocean where it was believed to have rested after diverting from its original route.
“The best guess that we think is that it’s probably around the Broken Ridge region, which is slightly to the north of the area that they’re looking at”, Pattiaratchi said.
Several pieces of aircraft wreckage have washed up on beaches in Africa and been positively identified as coming from MH370 but they shed little light on the mystery.
Media captionDarren Chester, Australian Transport Minister: “A further search is not now viable”.
“Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai told reporters that searchers are not giving up, they’re just going to put the search on hold until they get some information on the plane’s location”. Although a piece of the plane was found on a remote island, the bulk of the aircraft has not been located which has led to countless theories as to the cause of its disappearance.
Pieces of debris Australian investigators have determined to nearly certainly be from MH370.
In represents a change of thought because, in April past year, the countries’ representatives had agreed to end the search of the Indian Ocean seabed if no further credible information was found. This decision [on search area] was based on what we know on the last communication with the aircraft. That means it could have glided slowly until it finally ran out of fuel-or it could have still been under someone’s control.
