Seattle cop pulls over speeding vehicle, helps deliver baby
A Seattle police officer helped deliver a woman’s baby after reportedly pulling over her husband for speeding to the hospital.
A routine traffic stop on a Seattle street put officers right in the middle of the miracle of childbirth.
Reynolds radioed for an ambulance which didn’t arrive in time.
The baby was delivered at the side of the road – but the drama wasn’t finished yet as its airways were blocked.
It was all recorded on a patrol car’s dashboard camera.
Medics soon arrived and transported mother and baby to a local hospital.
The mother, Maly Yusuf, can be heard on Reynolds’ dashcam video screaming in pain.
“Officers Lorissa Johnson, Nicholas Kartes and Jason Alvord joined Officer Reynolds at the scene, just as the couple’s baby girl was born”, the police department stated. Police kept the couple there and called an ambulance.
Police say the family – who has not been publicly named – sent a thank-you note to the officers who assisted with their extra-special delivery.
Moments later the microphone on Officer Reynolds’ body armour picks up the first cries of the baby girl. “We are so grateful”, according to police. As they were being loaded into the vehicle, the officers can be seen on the video hugging and congratulating the new dad.
