Seattle Seahawks: Bring on the Vikings
“This lets us know we are on the right track”. Arizona would have the better conference record. In the receiving end, Doug Baldwin had 118 yards and one touchdown in eight catches while Cooper Helfet added 43 yards in four catches.
The Seahawks pushed further ahead in the second quarter, pulling ahead to 17-6. And all three areas contributed almost equally.
“Every year, I just want to get better”, Wilson said.
Hauschka made good from 33 and 52 yards in the third quarter as the Seahawks padded their lead.
Arizona was the one team the Seahawks needed to prove they could beat, and they did it resoundingly. He went up the middle, spotted Cardinals punter Drew Butler and threw a fake so good that Butler didn’t even touch Lockett on a 42-yard gain. Extrapolate that over the course of an entire season, and it would be a ridiculous 50-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Seattle has been injury-plagued, especially on the offensive side of the ball, but Russell Wilson’s spectacular play will have to continue as he will have to outduel the MVP-play by Carson Palmer.
The second half started with Seattle up 30-6 and Palmer on the sidelines with this game out of hand and the Panthers maintaining a comfortable lead over the Bucs.
-PK Chandler Catanzaro, who missed a 51-yard field goal in addition to missing his fifth extra-point attempt of the season, said he felt frightful about his efforts on Sunday against Seattle.
Last week, Arians said he had no intent of resting any of his starters, but following Sunday’s loss, he said sitting Palmer “was planned ahead of time”. They played sloppy and St. Louis took advantage and won. That would mean that the Vikings would have traveled to the nation’s capital to play Washington if Seattle had lost.
Meantime, Seattle’s ground game (still missing starting running back Marshawn Lynch and team-leading rusher Thomas Rawls) managed to rush for 145 yards on the day, with Christine Michael leading the way with 102 yards on 17 carries. Wilson was 19 of 28 for 197 yards in addition to his three passing TDs.
Arians has never beaten the Seahawks in Arizona. “But the ultimate mission is to win and we’ve been playing winning football”. “It’s disheartening with the way we performed today”.
Though the game was dominated from start to finish by Seattle, Arizona did have a couple bright moments, including the first play of the game. They finished with 6,577 yards in total offense on the season, eclipsing the team’s 1948 record of 6,345 yards. Cardinals DT Cory Redding didn’t return after a first-half ankle injury. “This offseason I think the kid Brown said I couldn’t guard him one on one”. Given Seattle’s 36-6 thrashing of the Cardinals in their regular-season finale-an appropriate recovery from their embarrassing loss to the Rams the week before-it’s hard to imagine a different result. Wilson has 24 TD passes and one interception since the first meeting with Arizona.
