Seattle Seahawks have ‘no immediate interest’ in Adrian Peterson
Furthermore, St. Paul Pioneer Express Vikings reporter Chris Tomasson reported Peterson’s father, Nelson Peterson, said the Raiders and Seahawks definitely are interested in his son. Adding a running back like Peterson, who could play every down for the team, might just be the push that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford needs to find his team some postseason success. New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo said they would look into Peterson.
Peterson will turn 32 later this month. He received $20 million in guaranteed money, but the Vikings made a smart move to backload the deal.
Pros: In 2015, his last healthy year, he won the rushing title with 1,485 yards.
“Those are some pretty good years”, Nelson Peterson told Tomasson. They have 14 unrestricted free agents and two restricted free agents, but there was no indication Tuesday they were close to re-signing any of them. He also played just three games last season and finished with only 72 rushing yards on 37 attempts, equating to just 1.9 yards per carry, a career-low. A similar structure could work for Peterson.
Once it became known that Peterson would become an unrestricted free agent, the standard “Should the Patriots sign [insert big name here]?” questions slithered back out of the woodwork.
Pro Football Talk reported earlier this week that Peterson “isn’t generating significant dollars via the wink-nod this-conversation-never-happened conversations”. He should have a number of options to choose from for his next stop and one of them may give him the best chance at getting that elusive Super Bowl ring. He’s said to be in no rush to sign with a team, and it’s possible he’ll take free-agent visits to acclimate himself with other organizations; those teams might have interest in letting their medical staffs assess Peterson in person. This past season, he was injured in Week 2 and was placed on injured reserve. Peterson has bounced back from knee injuries in the past, so it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if he comes back for at least one more productive year. $4 million represents what veterans Matt Forte and Frank Gore received in free agency and ties the 13th highest average salary for a running back.
