Sebastian Vettel: Ferrari will be stronger in 2016 with new auto
Ferrari has unveiled its 2016 Formula 1 vehicle ahead of the first pre-season test in Barcelona next week.
“After four years of pull-rod suspension we have changed to push-rod suspension, which is quite different and is a step forward compared to last year and previous models”.
Following an online reveal on Friday, the SF16-H follows in the footsteps of the triple-race winning SF15-T, with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen once again behind the wheel in 2016.
“We had a fantastic year last year and we all want more”, said Vettel.
Ferrari concluded by stating that, like all seasons, they will fight until the end of the championship.
“I hope we’ve done enough, but we’ll only really know for sure once we start racing it. But I can tell you with absolute confidence that the love and effort and skill that has gone into this auto is beyond question”.
Ferrari won three Grands Prix past year and finished second in the championship behind Mercedes-AMG F1.
It was an improvement on a winless 2014 campaign but Ferrari was nevertheless 275 points behind Mercedes, with Vettel 103 points below champion Lewis Hamilton.
He added: “It looks attractive and should be a decent step up”. It’s very exciting times. It also has changes under the skin with a change to the layout of the team’s V6 turbo engine and energy recovery system. Hopefully it would give us a lot of success. The first race on a record 21-round calendar is in Australia on March 20.
“It’s a new year and a new car,”Raikkonen said”.
Having completed both his driving and media duties for the day, Rosberg then drove off to find a fan who had travelled from Wales to watch her hero in action at the British GP venue.
Ferrari is believed to have made significant changes to the engine that will power the auto this year in the hope of catching Mercedes after a promising 2015 season.
