Second ‘Jack Reacher’ Film Gets Release Date
Paramount’s Jack Reacher 2 will be released October. 21, 2016, taking the place of Geostorm, which will now debut on MLK weekend in 2017, according to Deadline. The first film was also affected by the Connecticut school shootings – Jack Reacher features a tension-filled sniping scene in its opening – and was delayed and even postponed in some cinemas.
Meanwhile, Cruise’s ex-wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri has been seen on the actress’ film set in New York over the past weeks where the two took a break and spent time together, Daily Mail reported. That includes $15.7 million in Louisiana payroll, covering an estimated 524 jobs. He and Marshall Herskovitz, a Last Samurai collaborator, are rewriting the script. The latest installment in the action spy franchise has grossed almost $480 million worldwide, and has yet to open in China.
Paramount and Skydance are high on Cruise following the success of this summer’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
Although Cruise appears to have been confirmed for the sequel, there have been no other confirmed castings for the film.
While Cruise himself is returning to the film, writer and director Christopher McQuarrie is stepping away from the second Jack Reacher movie. There is also no word yet as to which of the books from Child’s series about Reacher will be transformed for the adaptation. This has just been announced by Paramount and Skydance Productions. The conclusion of a four novel arc, Never Go Back is the final story, where Reacher discovers Susan has been arrested and replaced as commanding officer.
