Second post mortem for NI man who died in Ibiza
Mr Drennan’s remains are expected to be brought back to Dublin tomorrow with the help of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund.
The favourite nightclub of Alan Drennan, the young Newtownabbey man who died suddenly in Ibiza last weekend, has paid a special musical tribute to the 21-year-old apprentice mechanic.
He wrote: “After 21 years of listening to his voice every day and always having him to go to if I ever needed anything or vice versa, to be told I’ll never have that again is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through”.
His friends said Mr Drennan alleged he was beaten by officers from the Guardia Civil after being taken into custody at the airport following the flight over.
The Drennan’s family solicitor, Michael Madden said: “This family would like anybody who has any photographs in the airport area and San Antonio area around the time of Saturday and Sunday, 18 and 19 July, to check their photos”.
The PSNI had said it was carrying out its own investigation, and assisting Spanish authorities.
His friends have raised claims that he was assaulted by Spanish police in the hours before his death.
“One of the ways to try to obtain that information is to have another post-mortem”.
Madden and Finucane had earlier said they are in contact with Spanish and British authorities, as well as the Irish state pathologist.
He added that any decision as to whether or not an inquest would be held into Mr Drennan’s death would be made when the results of that examination are obtained.
