Secret Service: All clear at White House

President Barack Obama was not at the White House at the time of the lockdown, Reuters reported.

The security lockdown was triggered when a suspicious package was found in Lafayette Park, a Secret Service spokeswoman said.

President Obama was not in the building at the time.

The lockdown at the White House prompted because of an unattended package has been lifted. He is spending late Wednesday afternoon visiting wounded veterans at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. The Secret Service also attributed the lockdown to an unattended package located in a park nearby, according to Reuters.

The Secret Service subsequently closed public access to Lafayette Park and Pennsylvania Avenue as it and the Explosive Ordinance inspected the item.
