Selena Gomez Is Billboard’s 2015 ‘Chart Topper’ Recipient
She will receive the Chart Topper title at the ceremony, which is due to be held on December 11 in New York City.
The Come and Get It singer stepped away from the limelight past year (14) and recently made her music comeback with her new solo album Revival, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 album charts this month (15).
Liz Gateley from female-focused cable network Lifetime – which will televise the Billboard awards in December – said: “Lady Gaga is an extraordinary artist, emblematic of the strength, courage and fortitude that Lifetime celebrates, and we are thrilled to offer our platform to recognise her in every way she deserves”.
“Selena Gomez’s streak of No. 1s has earned her special praise”, the announcement begins, at which point you might be thinking “What streak?”
Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media Entertainment Group, which is the mother company of Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter, said that they want to highlight the achievement of Selena Gomez. The first single, “Good For You”, is the star’s fastest selling and highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100, and it peaked at No. 5.
Selena left her flat, toned belly in a black net top and tasselled trim on show, additionally revealing her matching bra underneath.
Although they are not a couple at the moment, songstress Selena Gomez reportedly believes that she and Justin Bieber are meant for each other.
Earlier this month Lady Gaga was selected as the 2015 “Woman of the Year” based on her industry leadership, artistry, philanthropy, innovative contribution to music and inspiration to millions.
What’s certain is that Selena’s chart performance influenced Billboard’s decision to honor her with this particular award.
