Sen. Mikulski says Clinton wants to break down barriers for women
Other parties will be held in Chicago, where Clinton grew up; in San Antonio, where she went to law school; in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she was the first lady and co-founded an advocacy group for children; and in NY, which she represented as a US senator.
Rachel MacKnight, a Mikulski spokeswoman, says Mikulski will introduce Clinton’s name at about 5 p.m. and give a brief speech before the roll call of the states. Amaru, an adjunct professor and public policy consultant, won a campaign contest to nominate Clinton. According to NPR, he could play a role in getting Clinton officially placed on the November ballot Tuesday night at the party’s convention in Philadelphia.
Clinton has surpassed 2,000 delegates during a roll call of states that has been conducted through Ohio.
Clinton will be the first woman presidential nominee of a major party in the country. If she wins the 2016 presidential election, she will be the first woman president the US has ever had.
