Trump stated, “I have respect for Senator McCain”. Marco Rubio called Trump’s comment “divisive” and “offensive”.
Most of the new Washington Post/ABC News poll was taken before Trump’s controversial remarks on John McCain’s military service, so any impact those may have on the race aren’t yet clear.
He went on to name former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Texas Sen. The Republican National Committee also issued a statement saying “there is no place in our party or our country for comments that disparage those who have served honourably”.
But veterans were far from unanimous, expressing surprisingly mixed reactions to Trump’s comments.
At the same time, the Des Moines Register published an editorial Monday night calling for Trump to drop out of the race. I supported him. I raised a lot of money for his campaign against President Obama. He’s the head of the group that runs – somebody is doing a bad job.
McCain was responding for the first time since the notoriously outspoken Trump’s astonishing attack.

To him, Trump’s sentiment is more than just questioning McCain’s heroism, but a “dumb” remark that shows his own lack of military experience or understanding.
