Separated At Birth: Carly Fiorina

Fiorina will be one of 11 candidates participating in CNN’s prime-time Republican debate next Wednesday. Fiorina is the one candidate to maneuver from the second to the primary tier.

Just six weeks ago, she was little known outside of Silicon Valley.

“Ladies, look at this face”, Fiorina said in an address to the National Federation of Republican Women in Phoenix.

“The reason I knew I was the front-runner is because I keep picking buck shot out of my rear end all the time”, Dean said in a November 2003 debate after being attacked on guns, principally by John Kerry, who went on to win the nomination. Trump will anchor the center of the stage for the 8 p.m. debate, flanked by Carson to his right and Bush to his left.

ANDERSON COOPER: Well, I mean, Gloria, any time there is noise surrounding Donald Trump, which is pretty much always, but even more this week. The face of leadership in our party, the party of women’s suffrage. Are we serious?’ The Donald reportedly said.

Trump is the hopeful who has gotten in trouble for his own words the most after verbal attacks on women and virtually anyone who disagrees with or challenges him.

Other participants include businessman Donald Trump, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Texas Sen.

Fiorina’s quick response was met with applause from the audience. As it is, the network chose to tweak its rules so that Fiorina’s mini-surge in polls after the first debate could be taken into account, and allowed her onstage without bumping anyone off.

Former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore, who scraped a place at the kids’ table last month, does not make the line-up at all, due to low polling. “Every issue is a woman’s issue”, she said. They went, ‘Wow, where did she come from?

One thing became clear after the first Republican presidential debates: performance matters.

Fiorina has often said on the campaign trail that she lost her job in a “boardroom brawl” and has defended the mass firings. “She worked her way up”, Janssen-Martinez said. When asked if he received anything for signing the pledge, Trump responded that he got absolutely nothing. Though the Republican frontrunner later claimed that he wasn’t actually talking about Fiorina’s literal face, Fiorina seized on the comments in a Friday speech. “I have to say, if he emerges I would love to debate him“. “A plane hit the towers.’ She was kind of rattled and we kept talking”, he recalled.

Just five candidates will be relegated to the earlier 6 p.m. ET debate – referred to as the “happy hour” debate or “kid’s table” by some.

And Fiorina, the target of Trump’s latest insult, suggested she was “getting under his skin”.

To paraphrase Ann Richards, a great pro-woman politician from the past: You can put lipstick on a candidate and call her a contender – but she’s still an anti-woman conservative. “It’s the reality of politics today”.

Carson also pointed to almost 20 years’ service on corporate boards for global corporations as evidence of his business experience.
