United have earmarked Pedro as an ideal target, as per James Robson (via Twitter) with the transfer window edging closer to its August 31 deadline.
Pedro, who came off the bench, scored the winning-goal in extra-time to give Barca a 5-4 victory over Sevilla.
That game could prove to be Pedro’s last in a Barcelona shirt as the Red Devils prepare to meet his hefty £22million buy-out clause to bring him to Manchester. United have offered €25million with a further €5million in add-ons and bonuses.
“I don’t want to leave Barcelona but it is a complicated situation“.
Pedro’s agent revealed before the match that his client has asked to leave, but the club remain hopeful of keeping him. Pedro has 51 caps for Spain but with three of those coming in 2015. He wants his players to stick rigidly to their positions and maximise their area of the pitch.
The 28-year-old was left out of the Barcelona starting XI to take on Sevilla in the European Super Cup after being expected to start in the wake of losing Neymar to the mumps (via the Metro). It was exciting for me and I will always remember I marked the best in the world.
Pedro is arguably an unsung hero at Barcelona, garnering less plaudits than his superstar team-mates, and it’s worth noting that the Tenerife-born forward has bagged 98 goals in 318 appearances for the Nou Camp side.
“It’s quite clear Manchester United and Pedro have been speaking for a while”, he told Sky Sports News headquarters.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, who played in the English top-flight between 2007 and 2015, says that he thinks his “good friend” Pedro will impress in the Premier League.
Sergio Busquets wants Pedro to stay at Barcelona despite the winger’s lack of playing time at the Spanish club.
My answer is it’s a process, it’s a club, it’s a player, and we are there also.
The player has however rubbished such claims and said that he never spoke to the club secretary.
