Serious Bug Crashes Apple iPhones – Permenently
Moving an iPhone’s date setting back by 46 years isn’t something most people would do without some prompting. This according to a redditor who reported the bug yesterday. Merely setting the iPhone calendar to the date of January 1, 1970 is fatal to the famous smartphone. In fact, it locks it up so completely, even an iTunes restore won’t work. Instead, a physical fix is required.
Change the date on your iPhone to January 1, 1970, press and hold the power button to reboot your device, and prepare for a wild ride!
A bug causes devices on iOS 8 or 9 to go haywire once the date manually changed.
A hoax image circulating online has tricked numerous iPhone, iPad and iPod users to change the date on their devices to January 1, 1970 – only to have their Apple products break. Generally when you setup your iOS device you are doing it over a network that recognizes what century you’re in and sets the date accordingly.
It further added that users in America, with time zones behind GMT, were affected, but one user with the time zone set to Beijing did not. Share this post with friends and family to make sure they don’t accidentally destroy their Apple devices! Apple hasn’t released an official statement regarding why this is happening.
Of course there’s already a YouTube video on it, feel free to watch if you like.
