Seth Rollins Injury Strips WWE Champion Of Title: Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose
WWE marched toward Survivor Series sans Rollins-and John Cena and Randy Orton, too-more smoothly than one might have imagined. You can never discount this possibility, but we’re going to go with no, because Cena’s apparently been looking for a few time off since the summer and is reportedly shooting a reality show during his time off, which could make things tricky for him being a regular on WWE TV right now. Seth Rollins sustained a major injury during a match against Kane at a live event last week, and is out for 6-9 months.
We were ready to start discussing the direction that WWE began putting in place on Raw and SmackDown ahead of Survivor Series in less than two weeks, but all of that went up in smoke on Wednesday night in Dublin when WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins blew out his knee during an attempted sunset powerbomb during a match with Kane on WWE’s current European tour.
Clearly the tournament to crown the newest WWE World Heavyweight Champion will feature more than five competitors, however, these five are my picks to make it past the preliminary rounds and into serious contendership. He holds the United States Championship after beating Cena at WWE Hell in a Cell. Cena is supposed to be out until mid-December while he films his new show for Fox.
Bray Wyatt gives an Eulogy for The Undertaker and Kane, but Kane and Undertaker arrive in person risen from Hell. He drops the info that Roman was their first choice for the Authority, but was passed over because of his stubborn pride – ammo for both a babyface Seth Rollins return OR a Dean Ambrose swerve where he sells out to finally feel wanted – and puts over Roman as the #1 guy in pro wrestling if he’d just stop acting like a WWE babyface. Even though he should get a bye and move to the top of the bracket, he chooses to be a fighting competitor and claw his way back to the title. This will be one of the WWE’s toughest tasks to get the booking right which should lead to more interesting storylines.
This is what probably would’ve happened if Rollins hadn’t been injured.
C’mon you know Triple H’s ego can’t be contained. So when Rollins sat down for an interview with WWE.com, the site asked him for his thoughts on who would be the next champion. O’Neil steamrolled over the intercontinental champion and looked in control thanks to his power advantage. This brings out Charlotte who runs Paige off to save her teammate. “The Lucha Dragons looked like they were getting a push before The Usos” return last week so hopefully they don’t rush the high flying Samoans back into the title picture too quickly, which would be a mistake. Roman will now face Big Show.
We all know Cena is the go to guy in the WWE. Then it hit again. There will be a tournament elimination at Survivor Series to determine the new champ, but who will participate? He’s been quiet and buried on the undercard and a lot of fans probably forgot he has it. The WWE could have a babyface like Dean Ambrose or Ryback defy the odds to win the belt and then brogue kicked by Sheamus to lose the belt just moments after they win. CM Punk got himself over.
Since this is pro wrestling, WWE could just manufacture a villain, and one of the fun things to think about is that this very week, WWE writers might be deciding that it’s time to make Reigns’ on-screen buddy Dean Ambrose a bad guy.
After the match, Paige attacks Becky Lynch and locks in the P.T.O. on the announcer table.
The New Day: Yes, all three of them. I didn’t guarantee him to be anything; I guaranteed him an opportunity.
Cesaro out-wrestled Sheamus early, but The Celtic Warrior soon overpowered him.
