Seven baby corpses found in S. Germany
The bodies were apparently found in a box.
“She is sought at least as the possible mother of the children”, said a police spokeswoman, who would not say if the woman is being considered a suspect.
Police said they had not yet been able to question the previous resident of the apartment in the town of Wallenfels, believed to be a 45-year-old woman.
A brief police statement said: “Around 4.00pm yesterday police were called to a house in Wallenfels where mortal remains were found. The initial investigation showed that it is the human remains of infants”.
Other reports said the infants were discovered by a doctor who had made a call to the property.
Investigators had first revealed the grisly find late Thursday, with local press reporting that two bodies of babies were uncovered in the afternoon. They had been covered in blankets and were packed in plastic bags.
The property had been home to a couple and their three children, and reports say the man may have been the father of four others.
The woman reportedly worked at a newspaper kiosk and in the summer was also a lifeguard at a swimming pool.
She is thought to be the tenant of the flat and has been described by a neighbour as a “kind person”.
