Seven killed in PML-N MNA”s camp office blast
An explosion took place targeting the election office of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker in Punjab’s Dera Ghazi Khan district on Wednesday that left at least seven persons dead and 15 injured.
DPO DG Khan Ghulam Mubashir Maken said that five people were killed in the blast and added that resuce personnel had rushed to the blast site and shifted the victims to District Headquarters Hospital DG Khan.
TV footage showed ambulances moving the injured to a local hospital, where at least three people remain in critical condition.
About 20 to 25 people, mostly party activists, were present at the outhouse of Sardar Amjad Khosa, a member of the national assembly, at Taunsa Sharif, a few 350 kms from here, in Dera Ghazi Khan district when the attack took place, killing seven people on the spot, officials said.
Earlier reports said five people were killed in the blast. The bomb disposal squad was also called at the scene.
Khosa escaped the attack as he was not present in the outhouse.
Meanwhile, Sardar Khosa spoke to Samaa and condemned the blast as ‘cowardly attack’. “The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has carried out the attack on the election office of the PML-N lawmaker”, the group’s spokesman Eshanullah Ehsan said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A similar attack killed Punjab home minister Colonel (retd) Shuja Khanzada at his political office near Attock town in August this year.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed profound grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives in the blast.
