Several chances for snow this week, some colder temperatures
Monday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 30s. Winds pick up to 10-15mph out of the northeast. I think most of the accumulation occurs on the grassy surfaces and rooftops.
Late Thursday and into Friday, we have another chance for some snowfall. Temperatures warm slightly with highs in the lower 40s on Tuesday and then middle 50s on Wednesday. It will turn colder as we head into next weekend.
A weather system later in the week looks to provide another rain-to-snow changeover.
Not much change for the next 24 to 48 hours with temperatures, as a few cold days are ahead. A strong cold front will work across Eastern Kentucky on Thursday. We are forecasting highs 30-35, but temperatures will tend to fall throughout the afternoon. An area of low pressure will move up the coast keeping rain likely for coastal areas into the afternoon and evening.
Latest models from forecaster Weather Outlook indicate snow is expected to fall as far as the Midlands and Wales by around midday on Wednesday.
Sunday night: A chance of rain, mainly before midnight.
He added: “We could see a bit of snow on Friday”. It will not be winter storm level as of now.
On Tuesday, the high is expected to be only 27 with the low Tuesday night at 14.
Temperatures falling into the teens to near 20 overnight Tuesday will cause any slush to refreeze. As you go home, you’ll still want the jacket as high temperatures will get stuck in the 30s. A southwesterly breeze in advance of the front will send temperatures rising to 40 degrees, perhaps even higher.
