Guests who shop with a Target REDcard also receive 5 percent savings on almost all items purchased in stores and online, adding to the significant discounts Target is offering this season. But the big box retailer will begin its Black Friday event at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Wal-Mart’s will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Thanksgiving, earlier than past year.

Steve Breen, Walmart.com’s vice president of merchandising, said in a news release that the retailer chose to begin the online sales on Black Friday after three out of four Wal-Mart customers said they wanted to shop for cyber deals earlier.
