Severe Storms Take Aim at Chicago Area
“Several clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to affect parts of the watch areas well into the evening ahead of a cold front”, Environment Canada said in a statement.
The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has most of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin in a slight risk category for severe weather later today and tonight.
These storms will be capable of producing damaging winds, hail and flooding downpours. Also, an isolated tornado can not be ruled out, especially along the Missouri River valley.
After the system moves through, a few showers could develop late Sunday night or early Monday morning, but severe weather is not expected to strike again. Storms will then progress east across Iowa during the overnight hours.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Sarnia-Lambton, saying a significant, widespread severe weather situation is likely Sunday afternoon and evening.
