Severe Storms, Tornado Move Through Texas
A total of 41 tornadoes were reported in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Several cars surrounded the building.
The National Weather Service said the tornado likely had winds that reached speeds of about 85 miles per hour and left a narrow path of damage.
Officials said I-70 was closed for a short time next to Grainfield after the tornado crossed the interstate, leaving debris behind.
A railway train was derailed after a major storm in Roberts County, Texas, according to KVII-TV. Halliburton officials are investigating damage to the facility.
BNSF spokesman Joe Faust on Tuesday blamed tornadoes for the derailment of four empty cars around 7:30 p.m. Monday. But he says none of the storms struck heavily populated areas.
The Gray County Sheriff’s Office said at least one house and several businesses sustained damage east of Pampa.
