Severe weather warning issued with intense downpours and thunder expected today
The Met Office has published a yellow weather warning as it predicts a deluge of rain will fall on Greater Manchester from midnight to 4pm on Wednesday.
The Met Office has put the warning in place for most of the central part of the UK.
The forecaster added that a very complex area of low pressure will bring warm, moist air northwards into Britain.
Met Office forecaster Emma Sharples told the Daily Post: “The light winds mean that the downpours will be slow-moving as well as intense in a few regions with the possibility of 15mm or more falling in less than an hour”.
It was issued at 10.20am, and states the weather will affect most of the West Midlands, and could lead to thundery showers and surface water flooding.
The warning is in place from 12.30 BST to 23:59 Tuesday.
Hurricane Joaquin is heading for United Kingdom shores, as the biggest Atlantic storm since Igor in 2010 causes havoc across the world.
Now prospects are much better for Thursday and Friday, with drier conditions.
