Sevilla end pursuit of Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes
Sevilla president Jose Castro has dismissed speculation that the club are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
The Spain worldwide is facing an uncertain future after being informed by Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal he no longer features in the club’s plans.
Valdes kept a clean sheet in his only Premier League start at United, a 0-0 draw with Hull on the final day of last season, with the veteran goalkeeper averaging an impressive five saves per goal.
However, Valencia and Sevilla are both keen on Valdes, and talks are set to begin so a move can be finalized ahead of the January transfer window. “We have no intention of finding goalkeeping cover”, Castro told Spanish news agency Europa Pass.
Valdes, 33, has made just two appearances for United since joining the side on a free transfer last summer.
The former Barcelona keeper won 21 titles, including six La Ligas and three Champions Leagues, at the Nou Camp and was expected to make a big impact at United when he joined them in October 2014.
