Share a movie with the improved Moments for Facebook
Facebook launched its Moments app earlier this year, to make the entire process of sharing photos among friends easier. Now, the app will automatically create short music videos from your device’s photo collection that can be shared with your friends privately or post them to your Facebook page.
If you don’t like the video that Moments creates, you can always go in an edit it themselves. And, as expected, you can also tag your friends so they are notified of their presence in the video. Moments also automatically creates handsome movie compilations of your best photos, synchronized to music, that you can quickly customize and share with friends.
Additionally, Facebook Moments adds background music to the short clip, which needs to contain at least six photos.
If you’ve ever spent time on your Facebook timeline, you may have seen similar slideshow-based videos from services like Flipagram.
While it is an interesting update for the Moments app, this feature is not exactly new. So far, the social networking site has more than 4 billion video views on a daily basis. This is really the greatest advantage Moments seems to have, because it eliminates the extra step of syncing with Facebook when you want to share your collage. That team also designed Facebook Rooms, Facebook Groups, and Mentions.
That said, Facebook is playing a wide game when it comes to app development, launching multiple apps that do different things in an attempt to provide all things to all people, but unlike some other services, not all forced and bundled into a single application.
On the other hand, Moments is more popular than other Facebook apps such as Slingshot or Rooms who aren’t anywhere to be found within the first 1,500 positions on both sites. The new version of Moments is available on the App Store and Google Play today.
