Shark attack victim receiving treatment at Mass
According to KHON, Wednesday’s incident is possibly the seventh shark attack to happen in Hawaii in 2015.
EMS spokeswoman Shayne Enright told the Fox affiliate: ‘He suffered serious injuries to his right leg, several puncture wounds and a gash, but thankfully it wasn’t worse than that’.
He kicked the shark in the nose, but he wasn’t afraid, he said.
The Tiverton native moved to Oahu about four years ago and was attacked by the 13-foot tiger shark off the island’s North Shore on October 10.
Officials are investigating a possible shark attack in waters off Oahu that left a 10-year-old boy seriously injured.
Officials put up signs and warned beachgoers of the sighting.
Doctors say Cook will likely need a prosthetic leg and he will undergo surgery to fix his left hand. Shark warnings were immediately posted at beaches across the area, urging people stay out of the water.
An off-duty lifeguard was also surfing nearby and also witnessed the attack. Police said they found his truck with his dog and keys still inside Thursday near Waimea Bay.
Hawaii News Now is reporting that the boy was bitten in the thigh while bodyboarding about 30 feet from the shore.
Shark experts in Florida will be reviewing photos of the victim’s leg, but Anderson said he has little doubt that a shark of a few type bit the boy.
Enright said that the pigs were still being spotted on Thursday, prompting officials to keep warning signs posted and people out of the water. “So when he got attacked, the response was really quick and fast”.
Anderson said this is the first shark bite at Makaha Beach Park in 46 years. He said the shark was about 6-feet long and gray and white.
