Shaun King Family Member Speaks to CNN Host and Reportedly Reveals Whether
The mother of King’s five children lashed out at detractors after reports on Wednesday claimed King, who has said he is the son of a white woman and a black man, was actually born to white parents.
King’s wife painted her partner of 20 years as a pancake-making, tea-loving devoted dad and courageous activist who has been a leading activist against police brutality. However, conservative bloggers have pointed to a police report that not only identified King as white but also noted that only one other student was identified as being involved in the incident and that King’s injuries were described as being minor.

King’s response virtually mirrored one given by Dolezal, the former Spokane, Washington, NAACP branch president whose racial identity became a worldwide trending topic in June.
“Black Conservatives Fund PAC is offering $25,000 to help organize #BlackLivesMatter related events and rallies if Shaun King can and will produce his alleged African American father or cooperate with a DNA test”, reads a press release from the group. In a series of numbered tweets that reach up to 36, King defended himself and expressed his feelings. The justice columnist has gone on record on numerous occasions defending his ethnicity, stating that his mother is Caucasian and that his father is African American. He went on to say that he did not concoct lies to get into Morehouse College, or to be granted an Oprah scholarship.
King and his wife, who is black, have three biological children and have custody of two nieces.
King’s high school attack was racial, said CNN’s Lemon, citing King’s “family member”, but it wasn’t a hate crime.
She said that Shaun’s story is “beautifully hard, and painful” and that while she’s encouraged him to tell it publicly as “a unique expression of this country’s sordid and ridiculous history with race”, he will have to tell it on his terms when he is ready.
