Shenmue 3 Kickstarter Adds PS4 Physical Copy As Reward – GeekSnack
Backers will be able to fill out a survey once the Kickstarter ends and select how they want to receive their complimentary copy of the game. PC fans will also be receiving the physical copies.
Developing an established, beloved franchise by way of Kickstarter is passing through uncharted waters for developers, but the project seems to be coming along just fine.
The campaign states in its $5 million stretch goal that reaching the milestone in funding will introduce a character perspective system to Shenmue 3, which Suzuki said is something that he has always wanted to include in the game. Now, three weeks or so later, funding has more than doubled, bringing with it a physical PlayStation 4 copy.
Yu Suzuki mentioned that for the project to succeed, the company needs almost $10 million at the very least in order to make the game a visual success by fulfilling his vision of the game, specifically perfecting the open-world setting. Developers Ys Net have added a new Reward today which include physical copies of the game’s Playstation 4 version.
This reward will be applied retroactively, so those Kickstarter backers who have already backed the crowdfunding campaign with a qualifying donation amount need not fret, as they will be eligible for the PS4 physical disk reward as well.
When the Kickstarter campaign was first initiated, gamers were only able to pledge their support for a digital copy of the game at a cost of $29.
