Sheriff provides new details on Sherri Papini’s abductors
Shortly after the 34-year-old mother disappeared on November 2, her picture and story quickly appeared in media as far-flung as wire services in Australia, a Spanish newspaper in Southern California and countless television stations and newspapers across the United States.
Investigators were on Sunday able to conduct their first in-depth interview with the woman, Bosenko said.
Sherri Papini, her husband said in the statement, had “suffered incredibly through both intense physical agony and severe mental torture”.
Investigators are saying it’s unusual for an adult to be abducted.
When Keith released his information about his wife and how she was found, he talked about her injuries as well as being underweight.
Bosenko has said the case is puzzling for a number of reasons, including motive.
“Her now-emaciated body of 87 pounds was covered in multicoloured bruises, severe burns, red rashes and chain markings”, Papini said. She was then released from her captors on Thanksgiving day, Nov.24. It’s still an active and ongoing investigation and we’re still looking for the reasons or the motive for this abduction.
Papini described “suspect 1” as the younger suspect.
“Her signature long, blonde hair had been chopped off”. She had a thick accent. She had pierced ears. “I broke her nose and split her eyebrow”. “Suspect no. 2 was the older of the two suspects”. The older suspect had straight black hair and thick eyebrows. He said Papini couldn’t provide detailed information to investigators about her captors’ appearance because they covered their faces, and also sometimes covered her head.
Sherri Papini’s husband said his wife desperately tried to flag down motorists after she was dumped on the side of the road last week.
While it’s clear that Sherri was in a living nightmare while detained by her captors, new information shows that, even after getting away, Sherri nearly never made it out alive.
“We are thankful that Sherri has been reunited with her family and ask that you keep the Papini family in your thoughts and prayers throughout the holiday season”.
The abductors may have been trying to humiliate and wear down Ms Papini by branding her and cutting off her long hair, Bosenko told “Good Morning America”.
Before Papini was found, police had filed about 20 search warrants in court related to the investigation.
“It’s such a miracle that she was able to get free and to be able to get back to her family”, Sutton told NBC5″.
There is a lot still unknown about her assailants. Keith says he came home from work that day to his wife gone and their two children still at daycare. About three weeks passed before Sherri Papini turned up near the roadway.
He also addressed those who believe Sherri Papini’s abduction might not be real. That 2003 blog post can be read here and was originally published on the website Skinheadz.com, which is now defunct, according to the Sacramento Bee.
But Keith Papini’s statement of his wife’s condition was far more graphic, coinciding with initial Yolo County dispatch reports that Sherri Papini was “heavily battered”. “Once the sheriff’s office, our investigators, obtain more specific information on her abductors or captors, we’ll put that information out to the public”.
And now tomorrow’s prime time interview could answer some of those questions.
