Sheriff’s office to increase patrol through Labor Day weekend
The Highway Patrol wants everyone to make safety a top priority this holiday weekend by encouraging motorists to drive carefully and obey all traffic laws.
The CHP’s “maximum enforcement period”, or MEP, gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday and concludes shortly before midnight Tuesday.
A heavy presence will be used to combat reckless and distracted driving such as texting and driving.
During last year’s Labor Day weekend, CHP officers made more than 1,200 arrests for driving under the influence.
“Too many lives are lost on our roadways every year as a result of impaired driving”.
The mission of the California Highway Patrol is to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California.
“I can not stress enough that we want you to enjoy time with your friends and families during this special summer holiday, but please don’t drink and drive”, Sheriff Robert Bryan said.
