Sherlock Holmes 3 coming together
The franchise has already spawned two films – both directed by Guy Ritchie from “RocknRolla” fame. Producer Lionel Wigram revealed that a film script is being written.
Apparently, it’s very troublesome as a result of this isn’t the primary time a “Sherlock Holmes three” script has been confirmed. According to him, they are now trying to put a script together to get another sequel on its feel. So were working on that its quite hard to do. The filmmaker further says, “I think we ould all love to do one if we can come up with something that really was [really] going to knock it out of the park and was going to be the best of the three”.
Likewise, Wigram confirmed that both Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. are “very, very” interested in reprising their roles.
It has been nearly four years since the latest of Guy Ritchie’s film adaptation of Sherlock Holmes premiered and while there have been talks of a third movie to round out the franchise, the news about its development has since been scarce.
In “Game of Shadows“, fans were left with a typical Holmes cliffhanger after Sherlock took evil Professor Moriarty down the Reichenbach Falls to their deaths, only for the detective to show up camouflaged as an armchair at the end of the film, unnoticed even by his good friend Watson, who finally leaves for a long delayed-honeymoon with his wife. More than likely the real challenge comes in finding a suitable mystery for the detective to solve, while creating intelligent deductions for Holmes to make. “We want it to be the best of the series, so that’s a pretty tall order”, is what Robert Downey Jr.
This should come as no surprise as the second film in the series, A Game of Shadows, banked $545M at the worldwide box office in 2011. Is anybody else waiting to see The Giant Rat of Sumatra on film?
