‘Sherlock The Abominable Bride’ set for January air date, trailer released
The special will be called “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride” and will be airing on January 1, 2016 in both the US and the United Kingdom.
The cinema screening will also include extra material including Moffat giving a guided tour of 221B Baker Street and behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the episode.
The special is a standalone story with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman reprising their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson but during the time the original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories were set.
He added that he, and co-writer Mark Gatiss, stumbled across the idea when they were having a “geek day” during production on one of their separate titles. New Year’s Day (1 January 2016).
We also see glimpses of Mary Morstan, also known as Mrs. Watson (played by Amanda Abbington), as well as Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs).
The 90-minute episode will be taking the show back to how the author first envisaged it in the late 19th-century Victorian era, complete with Sherlock’s pipe and deer stalker hat.
While we’ve known that a one-off, holiday season “Sherlock” special would be coming, what hasn’t been known is the exact details of the feature length effort.

Many mysteries still surround the Sherlock special, but as of today two big ones have been solved.
There is also what is technically a new trailer for the Sherlock special. In 2013, when the BBC brought a special fiftieth-anniversary episode of “Doctor Who” to movie theaters, the episode did extremely well at the box office. “I’d say this Sherlock is a little more polished”.
Red ribbons were tied to the Sherlock star’s auto and a window at the North London home he shares with his wife Sophie and baby son Christopher, editors at the U.K.’s Sunday Mirror report.
The fourth season of the series is being written now for a spring shooting date.
