Shirt trolls Bucks ahead of Warriors rematch
LaMarcus Aldridge scored 26 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead San Antonio, who improved to 23-5. Klay Thompson had a game-high 27 points while Draymond Green accumulated 21, nine rebounds and eight assist for Golden State (26-1) which outscored its guests 36-19 in the decisive fourth quarter. Carter-Williams led the Bucks with 24 points. Warriors center Festus Ezeli got involved as did Bucks players Khris Middleton and Greg Monroe. That wasn’t lost on an Oakland, Calif., company ahead of the Bucks’ game against the Golden State Warriors Friday night, who made a decision to retaliate for a certain T-shirt printed in Milwaukee last week.
After the final buzzer Friday, Bucks guard O.J. Mayo confronted Green about pregame comments he had directed at Michael Carter-Williams, who had celebrated the Bucks handing the Warriors their lone loss with a look toward their bench. Minnesota Timberwolves 99, Sacramento Kings 95: Andrew Wiggins had 32 points with 10 rebounds, and the Timberwolves topped the visiting Kings for just their second win in the last 10 games DeMarcus Cousins had 24 points, 11 rebounds for Sacramento, which had its three-game winning streak snapped.
Asked whether that was what the altercation was mostly about, Green said, “Once again, I’m not going to go into what he said, what you think he may have said, he may have said or may not have said, but no man is going to touch my head”. “We use our length on the defensive end and on the offensive end and we try to make it as tough as possible for them”.
Second, they have Steph Curry and he is having a career best in nearly every single category this season for the Warriors. “We know when we get stops and push the ball, they couldn’t keep up”.
Thompson’s line: 27 points, three rebounds, two assists, plus-22 for the game. It was the most points the Warriors had surrendered in any half this season.
“You have to do everything right against these guys”, Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said.
“It’s a fine line because of what our schedule’s been like and our belief in resting players and keeping them fresh”, Walton said. On the road, fans and media filled arenas wondering if this was the night they would witness the end of the run. I thought we did that. “We were kind of laughing at some of the stuff going on”. “Obviously, he hurt us last game”. “Everybody thought we had them, but their experience showed on the court”.
Down 100-89 with 8:54 left, the Warriors reentered their starters, who went on a 15-2 run to take a 104-102 lead with 4:45 left.
But Milwaukee tied the score three more times, the final time on a basket by Monroe off an Antetokounmpo assist with 2:28 remaining. “Our guys turned it up in the second half”, Walton said. They only scored 42 the whole half.
