Shiv Sena face off: Eknath Shinde tries to resigns, Fadnavis calls Sena
Shiv Sena stepped up its aggressive stance against its alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party as party chief Uddhav Thackeray declared his party will withdraw its support in Maharashtra if the BJP continued to act in an arrogant manner. However if the Kalyan- Dombivili elections are anything to go by then it looks increasingly hard for the two parties to function amicably in the government.
Thackeray warned that if the “BJP continues its arrogance” Sena will not hesitate to pull out of the alliance.
Friday was the last day of campaigning for the upcoming Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) elections. The immediate provocation seems to be a Sena and BJP clash on Thursday over replacing posters that led to a BJP functionary being beaten up by Sena activists.
He asked the Sena workers to be alert in the next two days till the the civic polls end.
Under the Fadnavis government Maharashtra had lost direction, Chavan alleged, saying that the need of the hour was to write off loans of farmers to help them cope with the agrarian crisis. “This is nautanki (drama)”, Mr Fadnavis said. Responding to the criticisms that they have become pro Pakistan by facilitating the visit of Ghulam Ali and former Pakistan Foreign Minister Kurshid Mahmud Kasuri. We have totally anti Pakistan. “Uddhav too responded to the Fadnavis attack by slamming the BJP”. As soon as Thackeray finished his speech, Shinde rushed to his leader who was present on the stage saying that he was quitting as he could no longer suffer the “humiliation” being meted out to Sena cadres by BJP which was “misusing” official machinery.
“People taught lesson to Indira Gandhi then what is BJP?” On 30 October, state Public Works minister Eknath Shinde publicily sent his resignation to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. Thackeray then said he will not accept the resignation of Shinde alone.
