Shop local to show support on Small Business Saturday
That’s something local business owners would love to see more of.
“So a lot of people are getting in that festive spirit of Black Friday, and shopping, and Cyber Monday-well let’s keep our dollars local and support this community”.
Some Tucson residents are excited to see Tucson’s small businesses thrive.
“So we want to make sure that people are remembering to shop local, to shop small”, Bloom said.
“It’s a way to celebrate small businesses and make sure that we don’t forget about them when we’re planning out our holiday shopping”.
More than 30 businesses on or near Mass.
“It really boosts our economy”.
“You never know what you’re going to find”. We get to spread it around.
The day was started to highlight the importance of mom and pop shops to the local economy.
Place on Pointe is a gift shop serving the community of Albany.
“Small Business Saturday gives the community the opportunity to come back and support the same businesses that are trying to help build the community they’re in”, Nelz continued. “If you don’t come out and shop with us, we won’t be here”.
Down on Ledo Road is Blush Boutique. To get in the holiday spirit, many were offering discounts Saturday.
“It means a lot more than just giving a sale to people. It has a small town atmosphere, it’s welcoming and everybody in the stores have been very gracious to the customers”.
“People spend money here with me and I turn around and I spend it with other local businesses”. Every time a person purchases a product or service in Downtown Racine, they are helping to pay the salary of a friend or neighbor. “We’ve noticed a big increase in sales today”. Local store owners said they can not compete with the sales big box retailers have during Black Friday.
