Shopify Rolls Out Shop Section on Facebook Pages
Finkelstein calls Amazon’s selection of Shopify as the “preferred migration provider” a “wonderful endorsement for us”. Shopify will also integrate Amazon offerings such as Login and Pay with Amazon, Fulfilment by Amazon and Selling on Amazon.
Facebook recently announced at an event at their Silicon Valley headquarters last week their success at enabling 45 million traditional businesses launch an online presence on Facebook’s Pages, accessible both via the app and the website. The channels that Shopify also supports include an online store, point of sale system, and buy buttons on social platforms.
“In a few steps, merchants can transfer their customer and product data – with zero downtime or service interruptions – and begin taking advantage of an extended 30-day free trial”, Shopify says in an announcement.
Inc.is guiding merchants who use the Amazon Webstore technology platform, which Amazon will shutter next year, to Shopify Inc.’s e-commerce platform. As a consumer’s shipping and payment information is stored with Amazon, they can quickly and securely checkout on desktop or mobile.
For Shopify, the deal advances plans to let its more than 175,000 merchant customers sell goods on as many platforms as possible. Lastly, consumers are able to subscribe to a storefront so that they can get notifications anytime a merchant adds new items to their Facebook store.
The shares increased 20 per cent to US$34.75 at 12:18 p.m. Thursday in New York, after gaining as much as 24 per cent. Shopify had already climbed 70 per cent through Wednesday since going public in May.
